After the August 8 elections, six out of seven MPs in Kilifi lost their seats following an ODM wave that swept across the pro-opposition county.

Rabai MP William Kamoti who remained loyal to the Raila Odinga-led party became the only sitting MP to retain his seat.Kamoti, a lawyer, beat Emma Mbura of MCC party to earn another term in office.In Ganze constituency, Peter Shehe who was defending his seat on a Jubilee Party was floored by Teddy Mwambire of ODM, a newcomer.The situation was not any different in Magarini where veteran politician Harrison Kombe was floored by Michael Kingi, the brother to Governor Kingi.Aisha Jumwa won the Malindi MP seat which was held by Willy Mtengo who was seeking re-election as an independent candidate.In Kilifi South, one of the architects of ODM rebellion in the county, Mustafa Iddi lost his seat to veteran politician Ken Chonga, the man he beat in 2013.Gunga Mwinga who was defending his Kaloleni MP seat on a party he formed in the run to the elections was not spared as ODM's Paul Katana, a former journalist, clinched the seat.Outgoing Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro who was challenging Kingi for the governor position lost his bid as he polled just over 54,000 votes against Kingi's over 210,000.
