Before the last general election, very few people knew who Mark Nyamita was. He, however, came to the limelight after his August 8 political triumph and has been a darling of many.
After the 2013 poll, Engineer Nyamita started laying strategies for 2017. His interest was to take a shot at the Migori governorship and oust incumbent Okoth Obado who pulled a surprise when he defeated seasoned politicians in his first attempt in elective politics.
In the run to the 2017 poll, the former Barclays Bank Manager had increased his presence on the ground. And to many, he was Obado's biggest nightmare considering they both hail from Uriri constituency.
However, in March 2017, he quit the gubernatorial race and joined the battle for Uriri parliamentary seat.
His move proved to be a game-changer in Migori politics with Obado becoming the major winner, while the Uriri lawmaker John Kobado became the biggest loser.
With a resounding victory during the August 8 poll, the debutante sent home the incumbent and begun his own ambitious journey to political greatness.
Is he Obado's heir apparent? Well, time will tell. But for the man who describes himself as Migori Governor, his ambitious political Odyssey looks unstoppable. And before his opponents realize, the former Airtel employee will be in his own political league.
