Mr Odinga’s house is situated in Riat and offers the former Prime Minister a nearly aerial view of Kisumu City. The house is quite big and often referred to as Raila’s statehouse. The list of individuals with most expensive houses in Kenya cannot miss the name of any other than the former president Mwai Kibaki. Mr Kibaki owns a Ksh 500 million house. Whoever said money cannot buy happiness was clearly wrong as they did not enjoy the idyllic and calming view from Kibaki’s house. What’s peculiar is the retired president refused to move into the house even after it was finished.
4. William Ruto.
The current Deputy President of Kenya who was not born with a silver spoon is another wealthy person with expensive houses. He refers to himself as a hustler who made a name for himself by selling chickens at a railway line. One of Mr Ruto’s luxurious houses is in Karen and costs Ksh half a billion. The other house is located in Eldoret, and it is believed to cost approximately Ksh 1.2 billion. The house has an artificial lake at the center of the compound and six others houses on the front. 5. Ali Hassan Joho.
Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is perhaps one of the wealthiest governors in the country. Mr. Joho made money by investing heavily in clearing and logistics firms, manufacturing companies and healthcare corporates among other ventures. So clearly, Joho had accumulated wealth even before his political career. He currently owns a luxurious mansion in Nyali, Mombasa that is believed to be worth Ksh 390 million.
6. Esther Akothee.
Songstress Esther Akoth commonly known as Akothee is one of the richest individuals in Kenya. The singer leads an extravagant lifestyle and owns several wealthy cars and houses. Most people would trade anything to switch their lives with that of Akothee. Akothee has three expensive houses in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Migori, which she refers to as her retirement home.
7. Evans Kidero.
Evans Kidero, the former Nairobi governor is another wealthy individual the most expensive house in Nairobi, Kenya. Kidero’s house is estimated to cost Ksh 320 million. The house is situated in the posh suburbs of Muthaiga.
8. Bishop Allan and Reverend Kathy Kiuna.
Bishop Allan and Reverend Kathy are the owners of Jubilee Christian Church, a decorated city church. These two are undoubtedly the wealthiest pastors in Kenya residing in Runda, one of the country’s expensive estates. The house sits on a one-acre land estimated to be worth Ksh 100 million. Even though the real value of the house is unknown, it is must cost at least Ksh 200 million.
9. Mike Sonko.
Mike Sonko, the Governor of Nairobi country also owns the most expensive house in Kenya. During the funeral of the father's governor, we got a sneak peek of his multi-million palace in Mua Hills, Maanzoni Machakos County. The spectacular mansion is estimated to be worth Ksh 150 million. Moreover, it is believed that Sonko imported the architect as well as the construction materials. Mike Sonko also owns another house situated in the rich suburbs of Runda.
10. The late Fidel Odinga.
The Late Fidel Odinga, the son of Raila Odinga, his house also falls into the category of richest homes in Kenya. It is estimated that the two houses located at Karen Bel-air are worth Ksh 70-75 million each. The house is found on a 0.5 acre garden with a majestic view of Ngong forest-based in a gated community with only 10 quiet homes. The houses are equipped with en-suite bedrooms with fireplace and balcony and a family room.
