Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has become a household name in Kenyan politics.
Barely a year after he was elected Senator, Malala has endeared himself to Kenyans and was recently nominated to the deputy leader of Minority in the Senate, where he will face an election on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The youthful politician joined politics in 2013 when he contested for the Mahiakalo Ward Rep seat and won.
After his win, he vied for the position of the Deputy Speaker of the Kakamega County Assembly and again won.
During his tenure as a Ward Rep, he criticised Governor Wycliffe Oparanya andonepoint had an alytercation with the County boss at a funeral service.
In 2017, he contested the Senatorial seat and emerged victorious against all odds.
He is a trained script writer and was previously an actor before joining politics.
Senator Malala is known for his love for arts and nurturing upcoming talent in the performing arts industry.
In March, he wrote a play dubbed 'It is well'. The play performed by Butere Gril's High School emerged top in the region.
In 2013, the government banned his play 'The Shackles of Doom' which portrayed how some sections of the country were marginalized.
The Senator has created a theatre group in the county which is used to train and nurture upcoming thespians.
In a previous interview, the Senator noted that despite his busy schedule, he still spare some time to write scripts and interact with upcoming actors.
