However, there seems to be a major shift if the recent election results are anything to by with female politicians keen to upset the status quo.

There is no doubt that Homa Bay Woman  Rep Gladys Wanga is the most visible female politician from the region.

The death of former Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang gave her the opportunity to emerge from his shadows and become the main political actor in the county.

Amid claims that she's eyeing the gubernatorial seat during the 2022 election, Wanga is the person to beat.

Her would-be-male opponents will be forced to go back to the drawing board to springboard their ambitions.

For all the drama and controversies surrounding her political life, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has developed to formidable force.

The fact that she has floored her male opponents in the last two elections can attest to that. Going forward, the New York University-trained lawyer looks literally unbeatable in Nyanza politics.

After leaving her prestigious job at KLB to venture into politics, the mission looked impossible for Kabondo Kasipul MP Eve Obara. But she managed to beat the then incumbent Silvance Osele in the ODM nominations enroute to winning the seat during the August 8 poll. With her newfound political chest, the career educationist is headed to political greatness.

Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo has also confirmed that she cannot be wished away after trouncing veteran male politicians during the 2017 political contest.
