A political battle is raging in Migori County following the death of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello. And ahead of the impending by-election, political contests are expected to flare.
After failing to fully establish himself as a formidable political force in Migori, ODM politician David Osiany could roll his sleeves and try his luck again.
Largely seen as the future of Migori and Kenyan politics, the youthful Osiany is already an astute politician who was tipped to win the Rongo MP seat in 2017. However, he lost in the ODM nominations to the eventual winner Paul Abuor.
The politician honed his political skills at the University of Nairobi where he made history when he became the first second year to be elected as student leader. And though he never had the best of exits at SONU, Osiany confirmed that he has what it takes to be entrusted with leadership.
A key NASA leader Raila Odinga disciple, Osiany could be a man to beat in the ODM primaries. And a win could propel him to the Senate where he will make history as the youngest Senator in the country. Or will the veterans dim his burning political ambitions?
