Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi has sensationally claimed that veteran politician John Keen wanted him step down for another candidate in constituency by-elections in March 2015.
Memusi, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) faced fierce competition from Jubilee’s Patrick Tutui, a preferred candidate by the Jubilee government.
In his tribute during the burial of the veteran politician, Memusi said he managed to convince the veteran politician to allow him contest.
“Moments to the by elections, I visited our father (Keen) at Karen hospital and he told me that he’d been sent emissaries to convince me step down,” Memusi said.
“I respected him so much but with conviction, I asked him whether his name would have stood should he had been given the same offer. He shook my hand and urged me to continue with the race,” he added.
Memusi accused Jubilee government of tribalism and corruption, insisting that the leadership of the day had a major role to play in curbing the vices.
