The Maendeleo ya Wanaume chairman, Nderuti Njoka has called on all men to wake up and fight bravely against abuse by their wives.
Targeting senior men in government, Njoka said many of the male government officials have no happiness. He revealed that they mostly don’t spend their time at home but in bars due to the abuse they get from their wives.
In a report he released on Tuesday, Njoka said men are either abused physically, emotionally or financially. He said around 11 governors, 13 senators, 97 MPs and over 340 MCAs are abused daily by their wives or mistresses. He also stated that financially, politicians are abused when they are required to pay huge amounts of money for the child’s fee and upkeep if they separate from their spouses. Physically, he said some of the politicians are battered.
He quoted in his research findings report that 75% of politicians take alcohol due to the pressure they get from their wives. However, other politicians end up marrying more than one wife because they need someone more caring than what they have.
He called on male politicians to establish gender crisis centres for MCA’s, senators and parliament assemblies to help leaders and other men report their ordeals swiftly.
