Two men were nabbed with bhang under different circumstances in Mlolongo Division, Athi River sub-county on Monday.

Benson Mutuku (22) was arrested in possession of 41 rolls of bhang in Katani location by administration police officers attached to Katani AP Camp.

Addressing the press at his office in Mlolongo town, the area assistant county commissioner Kennedy Keraro said police set a trap to arrest the culprit.

“The arrest was made after a trap was set between an officer and mother of one of the children who bought bhang from Mutuku,” said Keraro.

Keraro said the woman gave her 17-year-old son, a form three student of a local school money to go buy bhang to effect the arrest.

He was discretely followed by the police who arrested the man in action as he sold the drug to the boy.

Keraro said the man was among those reported to be peddling bhang among other illicit drugs to underage school going children in the region.

He said the boy and other six from the school were drug users, they smoke bhang that were being supplied to them by Mutuku.

Keraro said the boys had been taken to experts for counseling so as to stop using the drugs.

He said another man was arrested by officers with one kilogram of bhang at Madharau Slum in Mlolongo town on fateful day.

Keraro said the two men will be arraigned in court soon.

He said the rate of drug and substance abuse in the division was too high.

“Alcohol, sex and drugs are too much in Mlolongo, they sustain the division’s economy,” said Keraro.
