They argued that this was a form of gender-based violence, citing that it could be used to spread HIV/Aids to the ladies.

Speaking during celebrations to mark the World Aids Day, they argued that the incidences had led to physical and emotional torture of the ladies involved.

Esther Njeri, a social worker, argued that the incidences were planned and calculated, indicating that there was a group behind this.

“It’s not normal for a man to molest and assault a lady in the manner that we have seen recently. This must be a well-articulated group that is out to intimidate women and must be stopped at all costs,” said Njeri.

Naivasha Member of parliament John Kihagi, argued that the groups behind the activities were well orchestrated.

“They are inhumane. I believe there is a strong cult that is behind this undressing and it should be controlled before it comes out of hand,” he added.

Kihagi cited that there are no stipulated dressing codes in the country, hence men should not dictate what women should where.

“In areas like Lokichogio and Turkana majority of the people walk naked. We appeal to the men out there to have self-control. Even traditionally, our women never wore anything yet we never had cases of such molestation,” said Kihagi.

Kihagi also raised a red flag over the increased numbers of sex workers in Mai Mahiu , South Lake and Gilgil town.

“We are appealing for advocacy especially when it comes to talking and encouraging the ladies. This will help in the control of HIV,” he added.

He also directed that all groups comprising of persons who are living with HIV and had applied for UWEZO funds to be given first priority.
