A religious leader in Naivasha has called on the men in the area to mentor street children in the area.
Dr Rev Bishop Joseph Wambugu of the Bread of New Life Church says there is an urgent need to reach out to the street kids in the town as the numbers were growing at an alarming rate.
He said that the kids only needed someone to love and mentor them and they would change their character.
The bishop cited that they had already started reaching out to the children by providing them with food and health care.
He added that he had already arranged for more than 60 boys to undergo circumcision, an important tradition in the Kenyan culture.
The bishop said, “We want men who will be able to come and advise them on what the process of becoming a man is. They should be able to advise them even on career choices.”
He added, “We now want them to go back to schools and develop their careers as some of them are very intelligent and are willing to go back to school.”
Wambugu also called on well-wishers to provide them with school uniforms and text books.
“We are also calling on companies who have internship opportunities to approach us and we will give them some of the young men,” he added.
