Menengai Ward MCA Michael Macharia has indicated that the Ward would benefit from the Ward Development Fund, together with the Constituency Development Fund to build more nursery, primary and secondary schools in the area starting early next year.
He said the issue of schools has been wanting in the residential area for long, and that plans were already underway to build more schools.
Macharia observed that the densely populated area has only two primary schools namely, Teachers and Hyrax primary schools, with only one secondary, Natewa Secondary school, that was recently started.
He said that he had personally initiated the matter with the county education committee, and after discussions advised to initiate a proposal, which he together with other local elected and community leaders were working on.
“Once the proposals are approved by the Ward Development Committee, money will be set aside for education projects. We will also involve CDF committee to ensure that we get at least one more secondary school and a primary school and several nursery schools,” said the MCA.
He added that the area was experiencing a high population growth due to its high rate of development and migration of people from other parts of Nakuru town and outside, hence more education and other social amenities were needed.
