The prosecution in an Embu law Court is seeking to have the mental status of a man accused of rape determined before proceeding with the case.

This is after the accused identified as John Mukundi declined to pay a bond of Sh300, 000 to secure his release.

The accused is facing charges of defiling a minor at Iveche village in Embu on October 28, 2016.

He was also charged with an indecent act to the girl by touching her genitals. 

He pleaded not guilty with the mention of the case will be on 14th of November 2016.
