A local industrialist and founder of Sameer Group Naushad Merali is set to put up a Sh2.8 billion milk processing plant in Nakuru County.
Mr Merali, when speaking at Naivasha Sub-county offices on Wednesday, told Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua that he would like to grow the county’s economy by setting up the plant.
On his part, governor Kinuthia said: “This is a noble initiative and a huge investment. I am glad to note that you have picked Nakuru County to invest in the processing plant and we welcome you to invest here.”
He noted the investment would spur the growth of the county and attract more investments of the same scale in future.
The plant will employ hundreds of youths a move which has been lauded by Kinuthia saying that it will provide employment.
Merali said that Nakuru has an able and standby workforce which will enhance all operations from construction to operationalisation of the plant once it is completed.
The milk plant will be set up under Sameer Agriculture, Livestock and Dairy Products Company.
Merali is the founder and CEO of Sameer Group which has made countrywide investments in agriculture, construction, property, finance and information technology.
Kinuthia is on a tour of the sub-county where he is expected to launch several development projects as well as inspect ongoing projects.
