Merging Jubilee affiliate parties into one political party as announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto may have been received with excitement, but this hysteria is short-lived.

Many may term those who are for this opinion as naysayers, pessimists and prophets of doom but it is good to note that truth is never taken with an open heart.

With the merging of Jubilee Alliance affiliate parties, it is a matter of time before the 'great schism' occurs. Yes, the 'Great Schism'.

First, the so-called new Jubilee Party doesn't inspire any hope in the youth. So far, people who have come forward to steer the new party agenda are the same old political demagogues and political rejects whom many youths of this country love to loathe.

UhuRuto drove on a youth platform in 2013 thus attracting many youth supporters. It may not be so this time round and UhuRuto may be gearing for a bitter divorce with their many young supporters.

Secondly, all these politicians pretending to be in support of one big political party are hypocrites. Wait till they are defeated in the party nominations and that's when you will know that all this talk about 'uniting' Kenyans under one all-inclusive political party is a bluff.

They will seek to jump ship claiming rigging, undemocratic nominations and other nonsense you are used to. Forget about the IEBC conducting the nominations. We all know that they (politicians) do not trust IEBC at all.

Why do they want it disbanded anyway?

Thirdly, pundits have warned Jubilee alliance against disbanding its constituent parties. This, they have argued severally would amount to limiting competitive democracy saying that many political parties that had varied voices will now be forced to 'tow one line of thought'.

In fact, some key Jubilee figures like Meru Governor Peter Munya and his Bomet counterpart Isaac Ruto have been so much against this thought. This will without doubt boomerang on the UhuRuto duo sooner or later considering that there are so many Jubilee politicians who are like Munya and Ruto but for one reason or another they cannot come out in the open and challenge their seniors.

Finally, we all know it is crap to tell us that the party is for the unity of Kenyans. Since when did Kenyan politicians unite for their subjects' good, if not theirs? The new party will take over from where Jubilee Alliance will halt and will remain a tribal outfit.

Those who will feel side-lined by this 'tribal outfit' will definitely seek where they will 'at home' and there another schism will be unavoidable.
