Meru University of Science and Technology has been indefinitely closed after two-day unrest by the students.
The over 5,200 students took to the streets protesting high fee charges by the university.
The DVC academics and dean of Students Prof Gitonga Mburugu said that the Senate took the decision to avoid the destruction that may be caused by the students.
However, he confirmed that most of the issues raised by the students were genuine and the university was addressing the matter.
Evans Njoroge the students’ union secretary general said that there were several other concerns among them the safety of the buildings and lack of clean water in the institution.
