The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains are set to continue over the coming days.
According to the department, residents of Western, Central and North Rift regions should brace themselves for heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday next week.
In a statement, the department said heavy rainfall of more than 50mm in 24 hours is expected on Monday, May 21 in Western, Central, North Rift Valley, Northern and Central Region.
Resident have been urged to be on the lookout for potential flash-floods in urban areas.
“Flood waters are likely to appear in places where it has not rained heavily and is expected to be deeper and faster, do not shelter under trees and near grilled windows or in open fields, this exposes one to lightening strikes,” reads part of the alert
.Counties that are set to be affected include; Turkana, Marsabit, Mandera, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Baringo, Kericho, Nakuru Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisii, Nyamira, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyeri.
