Mr Charles Geni of North Mugirango reportedly ran away with a microphone from the funeral of Ex MP Okeri Masanya early in May this year after rants from members of the public who were opposed to his leadership.

On Sunday in a local church service at Ekerenyo, Geni said he was ready to purchase microphones for all churches that were in need and challenged church elders to make official requests to his office.

“I have been facing accusations of running away with a microphone from a funeral service but that is not the truth. The issue is that I was antagonised by the way some of the leaders in attendance were politicising the funeral and I had to cut them short,” he said.

“With due respect, I once again want to challenge church leaders who are in dire need of public address system to get in touch with my office so that we make necessary arrangements for them to acquire a public address system,” he added.

He accused his opponents of fueling political debate on the ‘unfortunate’ incident and insisted that the microphone was later made available to the church that had donated it for the funeral service.

“It’s really disappointing that some politicians want to make political capital out of the unfortunate incident that happened which was their own creation. I wanted the former leader to be buried without political intrigues and I had to think quickly. Therefore, I am ready to purchase the public address system for the churches that are in need,” he said.
