[Photo/capital fm]US firm Microsoft has signed a partnership with Strathmore Law School (SLS) that will see the firm finance construction of a Policy Innovation Centre at the university.The agreement also entails the digitisation of Strathmore’s Law School, which has made it possible for students to access learning materials online.Meetings will regularly be convened at the law school for academia, industry, government and policy experts to discuss policy challenges locally and find solutions to them. The Sh41.2 million centre and auditorium is the first of its kind to be established outside Microsoft office territory.Dr. Luis Franceschi, the dean of the Strathmore Law School said,“Strathmore is here to push policy making partnerships between public and private firms. This centre is a frontier for social change and justice”.The centre will provide a forum to foster dialogue and discussion around policy issues said Christopher Akiwumi, Director for Government and Regulatory Affairs for Microsoft Middle East and Africa.Mr Akiwumi further added, “With the Fourth Industrial Revolution upon us, new advancements in technology are changing the way we live our lives and how we interact” “The benefits are endless, having the potential to transform businesses, countries, and make way for innovations for consumers and create economic opportunities.”
