US firm Microsoft has signed a policy partnership deal with Strathmore Law School that will see the establishment of a Policy Innovation Center at the university.

The move is comes with an alternative digital platform for students to access more content online.

According to reports the Law School will hold regular meetings at the center with academia, industry, government and policy experts in an effort to address policy changes and come up with solutions.

The is the first time the firm is establishing a company center outside its Microsoft territory. The other center's are located in Brussels, Belgium and Washington DC.

“Strathmore is here to push policy making partnerships between public and private firms. This center is a frontier for social change and justice,” said Dr. Luis Franceschi, the dean of the Strathmore Law School.

According to Christopher Akiwumi, Director for Government and Regulatory Affairs for Microsoft Middle East and Africa the center will provide a venue to discuss and foster new policies.

“With the Fourth Industrial Revolution upon us, new advancements in technology are changing the way we live our lives and how we interact,” said Mr Akiwumi.

“The benefits are endless, having the potential to transform businesses, countries, and make way for innovations for consumers and create economic opportunities.”
