A middle-aged man has been arraigned before a Thika Court to answer to charges of sending abusive text messages. Martin Mungai was on Thursday charged with creating disturbance and improper use of his phone. Mungai allegedly sent abusive messages to Beatrice Wangari on April 13, 2015 at Gakoe area in Gatundu North Sub County. He also faced a second count that on the same date, he threatened to assault Wangari. The prosecution told the court that the accused, together with others not before the court, threatened to beat up Wangari, charges that he denied. Chief Magistrate Stephen Mbugi ordered that the accused be released on a Sh10,000 cash bail or be remanded at Kamiti prison. The case will continue on July 15, 2015. And in another Thika court, a man was charged with stealing property worth Sh400,000. The court heard that on March 17, 2015 at Family Bank, Thika branch, Morris Njuguna allegedly stole Sh301,000 from Anne Murugi. Njuguna also faced a second count of stealing Sh159,000 from Murugi on March 25, 2015 at Kenya Commercial Bank, Thika branch. He, however, denied both the charges before the court. The magistrate ordered that he be released on a Sh200,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount. The case will be mentioned on July 18th this year.
