A middle-aged woman escaped death narrowly on Saturday afternoon after a tree fell on her vehicle along Geoffrey Kamau way in Nakuru town.
Irene Odhiambo says she saw the tree coming down but as she tried to speed off the tree fell on her car leaving her with bruises on her left hand.
she called on county government of Nakuru to take a quick action and cut down old tress along the highway.
“I saw the tree coming down but as I tried to speed off the tree fell on my car leaving me with bruises on my left hand,” she said.
The tree caused a heavy traffic jam as vehicles heading to Nakuru town and Nairobi from Eldoret were forced to stop while others used an alternative route.
Bishop Naftaly Thuku who saw the tree fell said that the situation would have been worse.
“The situation could have been worse if there was jam. Most trees along the section of the road are old and need to be cut,” he said.
According to Thuku, the trees are a disaster in waiting.
Nakuru county government fire brigade arrived at the scene and cleared the road after cutting the tree into pieces.
