Midfielder John Ndirangu has been released by 2017 Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia.
Ndirangu joined Kogallo from bitter rivals AFC Leopards one year ago, but it is now official that he will not don Gor Mahia’s green jersey come next year.
Gor Mahia’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Omondi Aduda, says the midfielder has been allowed to get a new club before the 2018 season kicks-off.
“We have released Ndirangu because his performance was way below what we expected from him last season. We cannot guarantee him playing time because of the signings we have done and have agreed that he gets a new club,” Aduda is quoted by goal.com.
The KPL champions have made a number of new signings ahead of next year.
Those signed by the club so far are: Lumumba Cassidy and Humphrey Ochieng Mieno formerly of Tusker FC, Charles Momanyi from Kakamega Homeboyz, Wesley Onguso from Sofapaka, Bernard Ondiek from Western Stima, Lawrence Juma from Nzoia Sugar and striker Ephrem Guikan from Port Louis in Mauritius.
Apart from defending the league title next year, Gor Mahia will represent Kenya in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions league.
They face Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea in the two legged preliminary round of the tournament in February.
