Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has accused Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of discriminating against some aspirants in the ongoing party primaries.Speaking to the media on Saturday, Midiwo claimed some party officials are scheming to frustrate Siaya governor hopeful Nicholas Gumbo’s political career.“Some party officials have pleaded with me to disassociate myself from Gumbo so I can get my nomination certificate, but I’ve turned down the offer,” he said.“I will not accept that certificate if Gumbo is left out,” the deputy leader of the minority in the National Assembly added.Midiwo and his Rarieda counterpart Gumbo have warned of a rebellion against the ODM in Nyanza over the just ended party nominations. He lost to Nairobi businessman Elisha Odhiambo, while Gumbo lost to the incumbent Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga. The two contested the results, insisting they were rigged out.Midiwo claims Raila Odinga’s elder brother, Oburu Oginga, rigged in his cronies, locking out the electorates’ preferred candidates. He warned that the party could lose votes in key zones, even as Raila guns for the top job in August polls.“Oburu is my uncle, but I’m bitter with him. He led election officials in doctoring results. That was done in his bedroom. I want him to know the General Election results will not be counted in his house,” Midiwo said as quoted by the Star.
