Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has warned Jubilee leaders to give the IEBC selection panel time and space to come up with the commission's chairperson.
Midiwo who was speaking during NTV's AMLive show said the rubbishing of the five nominees for the position of IEBC chair by Majority leader Aden Duale and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja could imply they had a preferred candidate for the position.
"When I hear Duale and Sakaja rubbishing the shortlisted nominees for the position of IEBC chair, it means there was an expected person who did not make it to the list," he said.
Jakoyo's sentiments were shared by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who said the IEBC reforms were on course and the Jubilee leaders should leave it to the selection panel to come up with a candidate that everyone will accept.
"Perfecting IEBC is on course. The selection panel has come up with a list of five people who one of them is going to be the chairperson of IEBC. We should stop the greenhorn approach to issues as seen by Jubilee leaders to criticise the five nominees before they are even interviewed," he said.
"They should leave it to the panel to come up with the best among them who will be accepted as the IEBC chairperson," he added
The interviews for the candidates have been lated for November 28-29.
