The MP who was speaking during a live interview with NTV on Tuesday said the Uhuru's sentiments were because he was aware he was going to lose the 2017 polls.

“The good thing is that the President said yesterday we shall not fight after the next general election. Even though his Jamhuri Day speech was hollow, he said one important thing is that he will concede or go to court upon losing the 2017 elections,” he said.

“That was a clear indication that he has already foreseen he will lose the elections and will concede or go to court. It was a good thing to hear from the President himself,” he added.

On the incident witnessed in Meru during the Jamhuri Day fete, Midiwo said it was so unfortunate that people could still be involved in such backward politics.

“Elections are not won by throwing stones at each other. Please forgive the primitive act you witnessed in Meru, the same way I forgave Rasanga when he organised goons to stone my car. That is not a 21st-century thing,” he added.
