Migori County has been sent to mourning following the demise of Senator Ben Oluoch Okello who succumbed to cancer at MP Shah Hospital.
Oluoch has over the last few months maintained uncharacteristically low profile as reports on his deteriorating health started emerging. At one point, there were claims on social media that he had passed on but Uriri MP Mark Nyamita dismissed the reports saying that the Senator was resounding well to medication.
Following his demise, a lot of leaders have come out to pay their tributes to the veteran radio presenter.
While paying his tributes to the former Radio Ramogi presenter and veteran journalist who made his name in the media industry, former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo recounted the late Senator's long journey to political greatness where he rose from a 'nobody' to the center of Migori politics.
"Ben came from nothing, totally nothing, first to be a voice in the radio then the Senate. He was going to go far but God had other plans," said the former National Assembly Deputy leader of minority during an interview at NTV on Tuesday.
