Midiwo said this will help curb complaints of biases and corruption during election periods. He revealed that by allowing both political parties to form the commission, it will let both parties have a representative who will be monitoring all activities in the commission.

‘‘This will help in achieving transparency because it will allow both political parties to have a representative in the commission. The representative will work to ensure that his or her political party’s votes are counted properly,’’ he said.

This comes after pressure mounted on the government to disband the IEBC team led by Isaak Hassan. The commission is said to not be doing much to ensure political stability in the country.

CORD, through their leader, Raila Odinga said the commission should be disbanded because many Kenyans have no faith in it.

The KANU party joined CORD’s push for the disbandment of the commission as well after it alleged the commission helped the Jubilee party rig elections in the March 7 by-elections in Kericho.
