The first death is that of Senator Ben Oluoch who succumbed to cancer on Monday night at MP Shah Hospital, Nairobi where he had been admitted.

Oluoch, a former journalist, had been reported to have ill health and had been in and out of hospital battling the disease.

His uncharacteristically low political profile since his election last year attested to his failing health.

And as if that is not enough, Migori has been sent again to mourning following the death of renowned academic and former Moi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Douglas Odhiambo who died in Kisumu on Monday at Avenue Hospital where he had been admitted.

The death of the two high-profile leaders from Migori has sent the whole region into mourning with ODM party being hard-hit especially with the passing on of the Senator who was only elected around 10 months ago.

Oluoch becomes the third ODM Senator to die in office since 2014. Others include former Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang and Kwale's Boy Juma Boy.

The late VC is expected to be laid to rest on Friday in Migori County.
