[Photo/Migori County Assembly]The Speaker of Migori County Assembly Boaz Okoth Owiti made a surprise visit to Migori GK Prison to offer the inmates goodies for this festive season.Boaz who was accompanied by East Kanyamkago Ward Representative Boniface Oremo, Central Kanyamkago MCA Alex Akugo and Nyabasi West MCA Samuel Rioba, urged prisoners not to lose hope in life but to look forward to better things in future.He told them that being in jail was not the end of life and that there was a lot that was awaiting them outside the prison walls. Prison warden Benson Olulo thanked the Speaker and the County Assembly of Migori for the noble gesture showed to the prisoners.He at the same time requested for seats and tents for the over 500 inmates and 200 staffs at the facility to which Speaker agreed that the Assembly would donate to them in a bid to essen their living standards.After going round the facility on Thursday, the Speaker also promised to donate more mattresses to the inmates to help them sleep comfortably.Among the items taken to prison include; 20litre cooking oil, 50kgs Sugar, 50kgs Rice, 10 tons of beans, sanitary towels, diapers, 2 boxes of milk, boxes of biscuits, toiletries, boxes of bathing and washing bar soap, juice, and Sh30,000 to enable them buy a bull for celebrations on January 1, 2018.
