Migori governor Okoth obado has been sued for getting involved in ODM affairs without notifying PDP of his defection from the party.
Obado won the governorship post through the PDP ticket in the 2013 elections but has openly affirmed he will defend his seat through Raila Odinga’s ODM.
In a petition filed at the High Court, Nairobi, an ODM member claims Obado was yet to defect from People’s Democratic Party formally.
George Odede who filed the petition through his lawyer Samuel Makori, further accused the ODM party for violating the constitution and Political Parties Act, 2011.
He noted the Orange party failed to bar the governor from participating in its affairs before an official notice of his defection from DPD.
“Serious integrity questions have been raised against Obado. The ODM constitution precludes him from admission as a member until the matters are conclusively determined,” he said.
Odede expressed confidence there were sufficient grounds for his case.
Obado’s lawyer Rodgers Sagana represented him.
The court will make a ruling on the matter, April 20, 2017.
