Residents of Migosi Ward in Kisumu County have lauded the initiative by the area Member of County Assembly Paul Achayo that seeks to light up the estate.
The MCA partnered with the Kenya Power to have street lights erected in the streets in Migosi area.
Brenda Sayo a resident in the area said there were many cases of insecurity in the area prior to the initiative but now she is positive that the crime rates will reduce.
“I am thankful to Mr Achayo for delivering this noble initiative. Almost three times my handbags were snatched along this route but today am a happy resident, I can now walk home safely without having to worry that I will get robbed,” said Sayo.
Erick Oyugi also a resident lauded the Kenya Power for moving in with speed to address the street lighting issue in the area. He noted that this will go along way to improve the economic activities in the area.
“24 hour economy is about to be real. With security in place, I guess we are up to great things that are yet to come in the area,” said Oyugi.
The street lighting project is an initiative of the County Government of Kisumu that is being implemented by the MCAs and funded through the Ward Development Funds kitty by the county.
