Appearing on KTN's opinion programme, Checkpoint on Sunday night, former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate, Miguna Miguna, took aim at the police over what he called ''textbook definition of ethnic cleansing''.
The outspoken lawyer and political commentator made the controversial remarks while weighing in on the ongoing demonstrations called by NASA.
''President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are threatening us everyday and butchering particularly Luos in a way that is clearly textbook definition of ethnic cleansing...'' Miguna said.
The explosive comments come amid protests that experts warn could cripple the economy if not addressed.
Miguna hit out at President Kenyatta for threatening the Judiciary and unleashing vigilantes on protesters.
''We have a president gone rogue who is threatening the Judiciary...This is a boastful, despotic outpouring of threats and brutal bestiality against the people of Kenya. This is totally unacceptable in a republic... Totally unacceptable in a constitutional democracy,'' a fuming Miguna said.
Kenya is currently in the throes of a growing crisis, with both sides of the political spectrum hardening positions.
Miguna also made the observation that the country was already in a crisis and criticised those downplaying the crisis Kenya is in as living in denial.
