The debate on Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's academic qualifications is continuing to attract mixed reactions among Kenyans.Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna is among the leaders who have rubbished the rags to riches tale of the Coastal political kingpin. Miguna launched a scathing attack on Joho saying his poor background is not an excuse for his weak grades. Miguna’s remarks come after Joho said he overcame various challenges in life to become one of the most influential persons not only at the Coast but in the entire country. “I take pride as a Kenyan for what I am today and I want to inspire other Kenyans who come from poor backgrounds. I cannot give up,” said Joho during a press conference on Tuesday, after admitting to scoring a D- in his KCSE exam.Miguna took to social media and tweeted. “When I went to school, the best performing students came from economically poor backgrounds. Poverty has never hampered bright students.”“Steve Jobs, @BillGates & @richardbranson dropped out of school to build, innovate, create & invent. They didn't FORGE their academic papers,” read another tweet. Joho, however, maintained that scoring a D- does not make his dreams invalid.
