Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has made the first step in regaining his Kenyan citizenship.
Miguna was deported from the country to Canada last week after the government claimed that he was in the country illegally.
On Monday, Miguna filed a suit seeking reinstatement of his Kenyan passport and citizenship.
In the suit, Miguna also wants to be allowed back into Kenya.
Miguna was arrested and detained for six days over his role in the 'swearing-in' of NASA leader Raila Odinga on January 30th.
The self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general was working became a sharp critic of the government after the August 8 general election.
Miguna was among opposition figures arrested after the controversial event.
