Miguna Miguna has condemned an incident where a three-year-old boy, Moses Obuya, escaped death narrowly after he was pushed from a moving matatu allegedly owned by a police officer.

According to the boy's family, the incident occurred on December 25 when they were travelling from Kisumu to Othoro in Homabay County.

While reporting the incident, the boy's mother Serfine Omondi said that the Matatu, registration number KCM 239K, stopped briefly when she signalled the conductor to stop but sped off immediately before the boy alighted.

‘’The conductor who was in a hurry pushed the boy who fell on the tarmac. When I protested, the conductor said that there was nothing I could do as the vehicle is owned by a police officer,’’ said Omondi.

In a post on his Facebook page, Miguna Miguna said that Kenya must be free of impunity.

“We have become a rapacious, uncaring beastly society where crooks, bandits, thieves, looters, murderers & despots are praised and success is determined by the amount of public land and resources one has stashed,” said Miguna adding that, “We must clean up Kenya of those perpetuating the culture of impunity.”

The case had been booked under OB 3/26/12/2017 at a police station in Oyugis.

However, the station confirmed that the matatu crew had not reported the incident anywhere in their jurisdiction as per the law.
