Former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna has come to the defense of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino who is under fire for his remark against former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, President Uhuru Kenyatta's mother.
The controversial first-time MP was on Monday arrested and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations following sustained calls by politicians allied to the Jubilee Party to have the youthful MP questioned over his derogatory terms.
But while defending the flamboyant politician, Miguna said that though Owino's utterance is morally questionable, it's not criminal in nature.
"What @Babu_Owino about UKenyatta's mother is vile and morally objectionable but it is not criminal," Miguna said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.
Babu Owino's arrest came hours after Kiambu women staged demonstrations in Kiambu Town and Githurai and some other parts of the County calling for his immediate questioning even as they called on him to withdraw the remark and apologize.
However, the defiant MP stood his ground, insisting that he has no apologies to make.
