The three major competitors have tried to discredit their opponents whenever an opportunity arises. The independent candidate and former advisor to NASA presidential candidate Miguna Miguna has been the most vocal one. The learned Dr Evans Kidero has also not spared his opponents. However, the victim of the most attacks has been Senator Mike Sonko who has also said his latest accuser Miguna Miguna has a mental problem.
“Miguna has a mental problem. He has been insulting me but will not do the same. He is a brilliant lawyer and I respect that but the will of the people must be respected,” said Senator Sonko.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Sonko downplayed Miguna’s abuses and promised him a serious beating on August 8. The lawyer had earlier said that Sonko has not read the constitution and does not understand what it means to be a governor.
Miguna used the traffic solution proposed by Sonko as a proof of the incompetence of the wealthy senator.
On his part, the incumbent Evans Kidero once said that the city senator does not know prominent international figures like the UN Secretary General. Sonko dismissed them and said he has a better understanding of the issue affecting the common city dweller.
