Through Twitter, Miguna Miguna revealed that he is the one who advised former prime minister Raila Odinga on president Uhuru Kenyatta's plans to extend his rule via a referendum.

He also revealed that the president last year offered him money to facilitate the referendum but he declined on the grounds that social and electoral justice are paramount and he would not support moves that are meant to further dismantle them.

"I'm the one who advised Raila Odinga of Uhuru Kenyatta's intentions of extending his tyrannical regime via a referendum after Kenyatta offered me money to help them in September 2017 and I declined. I told them that electoral and social justice are paramount," he tweeted on Wednesday.

In another separate tweet, the fiery lawyer confirmed that the idea of referendum was conceived by President Kenyatta's brother Muhoho Kenyatta and other close associates in bid to prolong his leadership and undercut DP Ruto who he had promised to support come 2022.

"The current diversionary clamour for a referendum was conceived by Uhuru Kenyatta's brother Muhoho and close associates of the despot in order to prolong his tyranny on Kenyans, undercut Williams Ruto and undermine democracy. It has nothing to do with reforms," he added .

The lawyer who is currently in Canada is against the call for referendum. He earlier argued that it is for personal benefit and not for the good of the people of Kenya.
