Speaking on Wednesday, the vocal barrister claimed that his woes and ultimate deportation in the hands of the Jubilee government was as a result of his rising popularity.

According to Miguna, his arrest and detention in the nation as a result of his supposed wrongdoings, including an ongoing nationality row with the immigration department would not have gone down well with his many supporters, forcing the government to opt for his ouster.

He hit out at the government and political players for the same, accusing both of putting their interests before that of the citizens, further taking a blow at the media for similar wrongdoings.

"My greatest problem has been with the contaminated elites and media with vested interests in the broken and corrupt systems," he said in a tweet.

"If most Kenyans were not supporting me and the NRM, I wouldn't have been forced into exile twice. They would have taken me to court and jailed me," further read the tweet.

The Canada based lawyer who maintains that he has not lost his Kenyan citizenship as is claimed by the immigration department has defied all calls to regularize his nationality.
