Speaking on NTV on Tuesday,Miguna poked holes into proposal terming it as untimely.

He said that the move should not be allowed to further pick pace despite the leaders endorsing it as the best antidote to the current national wrangles.

''The issue of secession is diversionary and divisive and could mislead us at this time. Also,as a pan-africanist,I don't think that this is the best move for the country. Rather,we should look for better ways of tackling our current problems,'' said Miguna who termed the debate masterminds as unrealistic.

According to the former Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful, the time invested in the debate should instead be utilized on chatting the way forward on matters leadership, inequality and alleged state interference of independent entities at a time when the country is more divided on tribal and political lines.

''The real issues we should be discussing right now is electoral fraud as was witnessed in both August and October, the upcoming dictatorship and state attempts to penetrate into and influence independent bodies like the Judiciary and IEBC,'' said Miguna.

''We should as well be discussing how to enhance equity and fighting tribalism and corruption that has characterized our country since independence,'' he added.

This comes at a time when Homabay lawmaker Peter Kaluma, one of the alliance's vocal leaders, has initiated a push for secession of 40 of the nation's 47 counties.
