Addressing the media shortly after he was set free from Mtwapa Police Station, the outspoken politician said that the police violated his right and freedom of association and movement.
“I am consulting with the view of constituting a civil suit against the state for illegally holding me by the roadside in Mtwapa. Clearly this is a violation of my rights to freedom of association and movement,” Miguna said.
In addition Miguna said that he was trailed by police officers all the way from Nairobi and the contingent included members of the National Intelligence service (NIS) as he could see a senior officer from Nairobi though he did not talk to him.
“The police officers told me they had instructions not to allow me to proceed to the hotel. There was a bitter argument when they told me to go to Mtwapa Police station without telling me why I should go there and I refused,” Miguna recalled.
