Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna has come out to reveal the real reason he picked a 24-year old as his running mate only to drop him later.

Speaking on Friday after being cleared by IEBC to vie for the seat, Miguna said that his first choice of a running was meant to trick his opponents.

Two weeks ago, Mr Miguna picked James Gathungua but he is now running with Karen Wanjiku Wagenye-Oruko.

"My initial running mate was a decoy to throw cartels off guard," he said.

On Thursday Miguna was turned away by IEBC after submitting signatures in jpeg format instead of Excel format.

Others in the same race who have received IEBC's nod include Godfrey Wanyoike (Independent) Peter Kenneth (Independent), Lawrence Kamau (Party Democratic Unity) and Michael Mutinda of Agano Party.
