Besieged National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna's lawyer Cliff Ombeta now says that the vocal leader's legal team will not give in its attempts to secure his return to the country.
In an interview on NTV Sunday, Ombeta maintained that Miguna is and has always been a Kenyan national, accusing the state of scandalizing the issue for political purposes.
Following the state's previous ignorance of court orders directing it to release the firebrand barrister, Ombeta said that they will keep pursuing the case in the very same courts, until the time the government will decide to comply with the rule of law.
"How comes he has suddenly lost his Kenyan nationality only after his latest political activities? Why was he allowed to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial post and practice his legal profession earlier?" wondered Ombeta.
"We trust in the courts and obey the rule of law. Therefore, we will keep going back to the courts despite the authorities' recent defiances," he said.
Miguna who is currently stranded at a Dubai airport, after his recent deportation, has since maintained that he will only take a flight back to Kenya, but must be assured of his safety before heading back.
He was on Monday March 26 rouged-up and detained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), upon his arrival from Canada, before being allegedly sedated and kicked out of the country.
