Miguna Miguna's lawyer, Julie Soweto has on Thursday made it clear on the efforts the Canadian government has been making to come to Miguna's rescue. Miguna who was re-deported last night to Dubai aboard Emirates flight EK 722.
Speaking during a KTN interview, the lawyer said the Canadian government has been doing a lot, unlike the Kenyan government that did mistreat Miguna since his arrival at JKIA until last night when he was re-deported to Dubai.
"Now the Canadian government was just doing what it would do for any of its citizens and it's really unfortunate that we have the mirror contrast of one government coming in to take care of a person they consider their own and then, on the other hand, the Kenyan government rejecting and mistreating its own citizen," said Mrs. Julie Soweto.
According to the lawyer, the Canadian government has been taking care of Miguna since he arrived in Dubai and is set to address his rights.
"The Canadian government has done everything they can do, they have ministered to him, they ensured he has his food even now in Dubai. The Canadian consular there has already jumped right in and is seeking to take care of him and address his rights," said Mrs. Julie Soweto.
Another of Migunas lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, talking to Citizen TV by means of phone this morning confirmed that the Canadian High Commission officials took Miguna for treatment upon landing in Dubai. Mr. Ombeta claimed Miguna was drugged before being forced out of the country.
"The Canadian High Commission Officials have taken him for treatment as he was drugged. He was injected through his rib and wrist," confirmed Mr. Ombeta.
