A Mijikenda leader has urged both the county and national governments to resettle street families.
Speaking to this writer at his office on Wednesday, Vincent Munga said Mombasa has a large number of street children who are currently encountering hardships following the heavy rains being experienced in the region.
Munga said the government should intervene in the matter and resettle the families as soon as possible.
He said the families are at risk of falling ill as a result of being exposed to harsh weather conditions.
“Street families are having a hard time coping with the rain. The Mombasa County government should partner with the national government in addressing this issue,” said Munga.
He further challenged other counties in the country to follow suit and resettle street families in their respective areas.
