The Origi family has over the years produced great players who have gone on to play for the national team and master great success.
They have also had great success with both local and international clubs.
Here is a look on this great family.
Austin Oduor Origi
Born in Nairobi’s Ziwani estate, Oduor, popularly known as ‘Makamu’ attended Highway Secondary School in Nairobi.
He then joined Gor Mahia as a midfielder in the early 1980s. Owing to the number of experienced players the team had, he could not nail a spot in his preferred position and was forced to play as a defender. He turned out to be the best defender to ever put on the Gor Mahia jersey and by extension the best Kenya had.
The highlight of Oduor was when he was given the task to man-mark George Weah (now Liberian president) during a match in 1989.
He is also remembered for captaining K’ogalo to the Africa cup winners’ cup win in 1987.
He also captained the National team Harambee Stars.
Mike Okoth Origi
Okoth made a name for himself while still a young lad at Shabana and later Tusker FC. He started playing as a goalkeeper, helping Itierio Secondary clinch the national schools' championship in 1987. He then joined Shabana, playing as a goalkeeper before moving to Kenya Breweries. He decided to change to an attacking midfielder and scored a good number of goals.
He is fondly remembered for scoring the second goal to beat Sudan 2-1 and help Kenya qualify for the Africa cup of nations in 1991.
He became the first t Kenyan ever to play professional football for a top tier team in Europe.
He then moved to Oman, before moving to Belgium to play for KV Ostende after impressing at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations.
In Belgium, he turned out for KV Ostende, Harelbeke and Racing Genk, before hanging his boots playing in the second tier for Molenbeek and Heusden Zolder.
Anthony Origi
Anthony attended Highway Secondary school where he honed his playing skills and his budding career.
He started his playing career at Mumias Sugar in the late 1980s, then joined Kenya Breweries where he played as a fullback.
His highest point in career came in the 1980s when he won two successive CECAFA club cups playing with the Breweries.
He later coached Tusker FC.
He is also remembered for being banned from football for attacking a referee while playing for Baruti FC.
Jared Origi
Origi attended Jamhuri Secondary School and made a name for himself playing for Utalii FC which became famous in the 90s.
His playing in the backline at Utalii was impressive, and it earned him a spot in the National team Harambee Stars, where he grew into a dependable defender.
He later moved to St Gregory’s college in Oklahoma after receiving a soccer scholarship.
Arnold Origi
Arnold is the son of former Kenya international Austin Oduor. The young Origi plays as a goalkeeper and is considered by many as the best goalkeeper Kenya eve produced, save for Mahmoud Abbas.
His sharp turns and reflexes are impressive to watch and has starred for the national team in the many international appearances he has made.
He started with Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) before leaving he slum-based club to play for Tusker FC.
He then joined SK Moss in the Norwegian top tier before moving to Lillestroem in Norway.
He recently changed his citizenship to Norwegian.
Divock Origi
Divock, the son of Kenya great Mike Okoth is the latest in the string of players in his family playing the beautiful game.
He was born in Belgium in 1995 and started his playing career with Genk youth academy.
He has represented Belgium in U15, U16, and U19 teams.
He moved to France where he played for Lille, impressing on his debut. He would later be snapped up by Liverpool FC in English.
Kaitlyn Origi
Not much is known about Kaitlyn, but she was introduced to us by Arnold when he posted a photo online with a cheeky caption.
She is the only female who plays soccer in the family and plays in the United States of America.
Caitlyn Origi is the daughter of Gerald and cousin to Arnold and Divock.
