[Photo|@KenyaInsights]"Saturday, October 21, 2017Statement on the Lake Nakuru chopper accidentI am deeply saddened by the death of five young Kenyans this morning arising from the Lake Nakuru helicopter accident that has left the nation in shock.I was personally known to Captain Apollo Malowa who has flown me on many occasions, a truly dedicated serviceman who served this great nation selflessly. Mapozi John and Sam Gitau have been personal friends for a long time, and were true patriots and dedicated servants of the people. They were not only ardent supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta and myself, but also worked tirelessly in the last and the ongoing campaigns.Mapozi John was looking forward to meeting me today for the ongoing presidential campaigns at Kajiado and Narok. However, God had another plan over his life.Indeed the demise of Anthony Kipkoskei and Venorica is a big blow to their families, friends, the Jubilee family and Kenya as a whole. The loss of these five Kenyans is truly a big blow to the youth of this country. It is my hope that their lives shall inspire many more to dedicate their lives in serving Kenya and humanity in general.I pray to God to rest their souls in eternal peace, and grant their families and all of us the grace and courage to overcome this grief.Amen.-H.E. Mike Mbuvi Sonko, EGH Governor, Nairobi City County."
