Top officials of the Nakuru County government have allegedly been linked to a looming situation in Nakuru in which over 5000 workers are threatening to strike over pay that is worth over Ksh 450m and unpaired arrears from last year amounting to about 80m.

A spokesman of the Nakuru County claimed that they are looking into the allegations of the collusion to call off the strike between some finance chiefs and leaders of the local branch of Kenya County Government Workers Union.

The spokesman  further said there must be “incitement to strike being perpetrated as everyone knows that the deadline for paying salaries of the county is usually the seventh date of every month which is a date still very far”.

The standoff between workers and the county government occurs in the midst of a well- known storm that exists between the executive and Nakuru County Assembly over the passing of this year’s up-to-June supplementary budget.
