Kisumu Minority leader Edwin Anayo observed that the two thirds gender rule is not being observed by the county government.

Anayo said that women, just like their male counterparts, need to be accorded opportunity in service in the county.

He accused the county government of playing too much politics at the expense of observance to the law.

“The rule of law is very clear that women two thirds gender rule should be adopted in public offices to ensure that women in the country are empowered.

“Women also go to school just like men, and therefore need to be given opportunity to service delivery to the county,” said Anayo.

The Market/Milimani ward representative accused Ranguma’s governance of sidelining women in the county, and challenged the governor to ensure that the rights of the women gender in the county are also accorded to them.

“As a county, we need to accord everyone equal treatment as all the residents pay taxes that is used to run the county operations,” he added.

He was speaking to this writer on Monday at his ward office in Milimani.
